Liz Weber delivered a content-packed workshop “Stop Doing Things That Don’t Help Your Business!” Hailing from Greencastle, PA she boldly admitted she does not know a lot about the beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. Her spare time is spent in a different type of field as her passion is rescue horses. She has one in her field right now, and with the help of her husband, will turn their farm into a rescue farm for retired horses.
This workshop was a little different, in a very good way. Many presenters provide a “To Do list” of great steps to take in order to build a thriving, profitable speaking business. Liz did too, and she went deeper.
She taught us how to identify the type of business we want to build – our vision. How much revenue is needed to create that vision? Who is our ideal customer and how are we going to reach them?
Then, my favorite part – identify the activities we must STOP doing. We all have them. They are daily activities someone else could do for us. Activities that keep us performing for the wrong audience. Activities that keep us always learning, but never implementing.
Ah, IMPLEMENTATION – another great take away. We spend many hours learning our craft. If we never implement the strategies we learn, we will be smart, but broke.
As we work our plan, Liz taught us to ask this question: “Is this worth MY time –right now? Will this activity help me to:
1. Book more business
2. Sell more products
3. Move me towards my vision
If you answered “no,” then “Stop Doing Things That Don’t Help Your Business!”
Liz Weber is a new favorite. I’ve started my plan. How about you? Will your business look better in a year than it does today?
